This Sunday (20/02) the Qualified Guides Association of Dodecanese will host two free guided tours in some of Rhodes’ most prominent sites!
As stated in a press release issued by the Qualified Guides Association of Dodecanese: “To celebrate the occasion of the World Guide Day, we organize on Sunday, February 20, two separate thematic guided tours and we invite all our fellow citizens to participate at 10.00 and 12.00. It is our belief that the cultural tourism that we present to our island’s visitors is not exclusively a tourist product, but also a right of the citizens of the local community. That is why, in cooperation with our cultural partners, we support free access to our precious cultural heritage.”
FIRST TOUR: MANDRAKI
Departure from “ELLI”, Sunday at 10.00 a.m in the morning.
Walk in Mandraki for our acquaintance with the Public buildings of the Italian period. Simultaneous talk about the historical context in which they were built and their transformations according to the political aspirations of the regime.
Duration about 1.5 hours
SECOND TOUR: CASTLE MOAT & HISTORICAL CENTER OF THE MEDIEVAL CITY
Departure from the entrance of the moat, next to the main TAXI station in Mandraki, Sunday at 12.00 noon.
Walk in the impressive moat around the walls of the medieval city, with simultaneous talk about the historical context in which the walls were built as well as the organization during the sieges.
Duration about 1.5 hours.
All participants are encouraged to be at the starting point in time to pick up intercom devices so that they will be able to watch the tours.
