Fairs of Rhodes are mostly focused on the religious element and tied with religious celebrations. Since the ancient times the Greeks liked to spice up their lives with fairs and festivals.

The village and town fairs divided on three segments:

  • First the religious segment, where people go to the church service and the procession the icon
  • Second segment, the entertainment; music and dancing
  • Third segment, the commercial flea market. As in the past, at the fairs, people have the opportunity to meet each other, friends and relatives and purchase many items from the bazaars.

FAIRS & FESTIVALS DATES

APRIL
• On the 22nd and 23rd of April or on Easter Monday, of Agios Georgios in Pastida. Saint George is also celebrated with a festival, by the Muslims of Rhodes, on May 6 in the Rodini Park of the city of Rhodes.
JUNE
• At the beginning of June, Strawberry Festival in Paradise
JULY
• On the 16th and 17th of July, the celebration of Agia Marina in Paradisi and on the 16th of July in Apolakkia
• The first Saturday after the 17th of July, Watermelon Festival in South Rhodes
• On the 19th and 20th of July, celebration the Prophet Elias in Ialyssos
• On the 21st of July celebration of Agios Philemon in Arnitha
• On the 25th, 26th & 27th of July, a three-day festival takes place in Kattavia, a day of celebrating Agia Paraskevi and Agios Panteleimon
• On the 25th & 26th of July, in Agia Paraskevi in ​​Ialyssos
• On the 28th, 29th & 30th of July, celebration of Agios Silas (Soula) in Soroni
AUGUST
• On the 5th & 6th of August, celebration of the Ascension of the Savior in Kiotari
• On the 13th, 14th & 15th of August, celebration the day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, in Ialyssos and Kremasti
• On the 15th of August at the Asclepieion and at the Panagia Katholiki in Kattavia

SEPTEMBER

• On the 7th & 8th of September, celebration of the Birthday of the Virgin Mary, in Panagia Tsampika of Archangelos and on the 8th  of August in Panagia Skiadeni in South Rhodes
